About Department

• The Department of Geography was established under the Faculty of Earth, Environment, and Space Sciences in 2013 and is now running postgraduate (M.Sc. Geography) and Ph.D. courses in Geography.
• The department is located on the first floor of Swami Vivekanand Bhawan Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur, Rewari.

The Department of Geography enlightens students to develop their knowledge and skills to understand real world problems and contribute to global development in a meaningful way.

Our mission is to develop multidisciplinary thinking among future geographers and inspire them to provide sustainable solutions to physical and social problems.

Thrust Areas of Department

• The Department has diversified interest in the various latest field Geography and cover approximately all parts of physical and human geography.
• Therefore, the curriculum has components of interdisciplinary areas.

We follow-

• Being aware of the policies of the present government and adopting the new education policy, special emphasis has been laid on enriching skill development and self-employment courses in the department.

Our Strength

• The department offers 45 seats ( along with 5 Supernumerary seats ) in M.Sc.
• The Department provides good opportunities for research at doctoral level on a variety of topics. Here, seven research scholars completed their Ph.D. and presently one student is enrolled in Ph.D. program.
• The Department has a fully equipped Cartography Lab, GIS and Spatial Data Modeling Lab, Image Interpretation Lab, Instrumental lab.

We prepare

• These courses in geography prepare the students for pursuing career in academics, teaching, planning, geospatial data scientist, cartographer and various public & private sector services.
