The Department of Biotechnology at Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur (Rewari), Haryana (IGU) was established in 2019 to facilitate and fulfil the needs of higher education in this particular industry and research driven science for the aspiring students of Haryana and from other parts of the country also. At Present, the Department of Biotechnology, IGU at university campus offers two programmes; PhD and M.Sc. in Biotechnology. The Department of Biotechnology strive to provide the best teaching and training to the students in the field of biotechnology and to achieve them global recognition in education, and research. Major thrust is in the areas of Antimicrobial Studies, Medical Diagnostics/ Infectious Diseases, Bio-nanotechnology, Drug Delivery System, and Vaccine Development. The department provide interactive teaching and learning a number of events like science quiz competitions, extension lectures, seminars and Industrial trips. Students qualify NET-JRF, GATE and other competitive examinations on regular basis.
